I really don't do this often but in this case I cannot improve upon the promotional blurb that is posted for this book. That's because Robbie and Lance, while knowing what each of them wanted from each other six years before as well as today, could not be better drawn or written.I can only say that the way author Rachel Ember brings these two together, warms them to each other through a brutal Nebraska snowstorm, solidifies their respective goodness by way of calf-caring, really won't prepare you for what happens when they finally realize that "this is it."The pages scorch thereafter and you will likely do what I did when I came to the end--went right out to the website and purchased the sequel, which has not come out as yet as of this writing. But I shall report back after I have consumed it. I don’t usually care for books that have flashbacks interspersed, but it worked really well here. This was a lovely romance about Robbie and his youngest brother’s childhood friend, Lance. Robbie is all alone on the ranch now. Lance disappeared when he was 16, but he has returned to town and has gotten himself thrown in jail. Robbie is a gentle caregiver, whereas Lance is somewhat of a lost soul in search of a home. This was a gripping and emotional slow burn romance that ends with a very definitive HFN. I’m looking forward to reading the sequel next, Signs of Spring, to get the rest of their story.
